Know How You Are Being Presented 300x198 Know How You Are Being Presented by @DontKillYourDatWhen you are starting a new business, you have to be aware of all aspects of the machinery of said business. There is marketing, sales, branding, meetings, advertising, etc. to deal with. You take the time to conduct your business in the most profitable way you can to achieve the highest and best results. So why should your internet dating “business” be any different?

Be Knowledgeable and Superior to the Competition to Win the Game!

Here are a few simple guidelines to aid in your new found dating quest:

Actively manage your profile.

Most people throw up a profile and sit back and wait for the lovin.’ Don’t. You must be proactive in your own dating life! For example, don’t be like so many Realtors out there who just put up a For Sale sign and expect the buyers to come. The best Realtors advertise, cold call, and hustle. So should you. Take a look at (at least) 10 other men’s profiles like yours. If your service allows it, look at the most popular ones. Emulate what works best for you. You will see what to do and more importantly what NOT to do. You will be amazed at what so many guys are doing and how badly it reflects on them. Don’t be them.

Learn how your particular dating service works.

Read the guidelines of the site. They will tell you how best to utilize their service. Don’t go all “manly” and throw away the instructions. Read them! Then check on all the details. Does your picture get cropped? Do you have a good lead line and message, or does it get cut off at a particularly embarrassing spot? How are your sent messages formatted? You can save a lot of time and come across far better than your competition if you are aware of all sides of the game. You are your product! Know how you are being presented.

Write a great profile.

You must stand out from the crowd. Be engaging. Be funny. Be someone she wants to meet. If you have to hire someone to write a good profile for you, then do it. As long as it’s true, and it’s you. I can think of worse ways to spend money. Will it give you a good return on investment? If it reads better than your “Me likey girl parts and stuff,” then spend the dough. And above all…

Be interesting, dammit!

Schedule your contacts regularly.

When a woman first appears on a site, she is bombarded with messages from guys. Most of these are just awful. But she has to sift through them to find you. So do your best to be first. The faster you can say a nice hello, the better chance you have of a response. So do it every day if possible. If your site allows it, sign up so that you are alerted when a new member joins that is within your parameters.

Have a nice picture.

Now I know this seems like a no-brainer, but apparently some of you have not received the memo. If you cannot get someone, anyone, to take your picture, you should not be dating. Period. Step one, get some friends. Step two, date. If you do not know what a good picture is, let one of your newfound friends tell you. Have several pics of you with other people doing awesome things. And if I catch you taking a shirtless pic in front of a mirror again, I will personally de-pants you in front of a bus full of nuns.

If you do all these things, you will put yourself in a much stronger position than your competition. Most people think they just have to throw up a profile and the opposite sex will beat a path to their door. But you are different. Know how you are being presented. After all, knowledge is power.

Go On, Be Strong
